Little too late for this....

So... I've been checking other people's blogs.. looks like I'm the only one not updating constantly.
I'm working on a painting now, so I will be posting that up soon. But for now, here are some that were exhibited at the senior show at FIT 2008(yes, I've been meaning to post the finished products of these for months!):
Victor's Secret
The Wait
COMING SOON: "SEX"

So here it is:

lesson learned: don't flick off the boat drivers.

Update

Three days left to school, I've been just punching out projects at the last minute.
I like the concept, but I gotta be honest, they don't look quite "done" to me.
I think I'm gonna work on it more after resting for a while.
They are available at my web album. Check it out.
On the other hand, here is something I couldn't decide.
Of course, I will be fixing little things here and there,
but which one to go with?

Inspiration

Inspirations can come from the weirdest things.

Lately, I've been having an "idea block" issue so I was having trouble with this project. I think it's a mild case of senioritis.

Then in class one day, I was looking around to get some ideas. That is when I saw a word, "sperm" written on one of the walls in the classroom. So here, this is what I came up with.

Initially, I wanted to draw something for my mother. This my mother's favorite flower that she wanted me to draw for her. I don't think it's what she expected though..Oh well, I guess she's not hanging it up on the wall, like she wanted to.
Hmm.. what should I name this piece?

Mental Health Day

So on Saturday, I took a break from the craziness, called typical days of my life. I decided to take advantage of the fact that I live very close to LI(or should I say Nassau county?), the quiet and relaxing area. I went to Roosevelt Field Mall, tenth biggest shopping mall in the country, and it was damn crowded, I had to get out of there.

So I went to eat at a place I have never been to: Houstons. I walk in and head straight to the bar area to see paintings on the wall. Voila, there it was. Something I've seen before, something that looks familiar to me. One of my favorite professors' work on the wall. Professor William Low. Again, I had to whip out my camera and take pictures.

This is the painting of the restaurant I went to. I had to step in to the mens room little bit to take this picture.

There were about five of them there. What was amazing was that I've never seen his paintings before. Textures and other details that are hard to tell on computer screen came alive in real paintings.

So after starring at it for about thirty minutes and eating good food, I stepped out and the sky was telling me to enjoy the rest of the day by hanging out.

So I did. What a great day I had.

Now it is Tuesday, and things have been crazy already. I'm glad I took a mental health day to prepare myself for the crazy week I will be having.

The Wait sketch

So this is the sketch for the project that is due in two days. I finally finished it last night. I usually don't like to trace the sketch onto the final board, because I lose so much details while doing that. So I started sketching in my regular sized sketchbook, and sketching smaller than I usually do, when I got to the braided hair/yarn part, I thought my eyes were gonna fall out from looking at it.
Anyway, time to start coloring. It won't be too much work..

Slavery

This is my latest work. It was fun working on this project. People often become slave to medicine. It is sometimes because of their addiction. but sometimes, it is because their lives depend on it.

Spaceship and Misanthrope

With those two words given, I was to create an image. I was pretty thrilled to get started once I had the sketch done and approved. But things didn't work out as I started working on it. So I stop working and take it to class, and my professor, Scott Bakal, looks at it, and flips my illustration board, and tells me to start over on the other side, where the board was all scuffed up.

So that's what I got. I guess it looks better than the first one I did. I learned a lot about a lot of things. So I'll take that and apply to my next project.

Yipeeee! Spring Break!!!

My artwork blog has been updated, check it out

I might be getting somewhere...

Tancredi (story of a two headed boy)-still not finished.

I can't say I like this piece so much, but I'm in the search for my style, and this piece makes me feel like I might actually be headed for something...

These days, I am fully enjoying everything I create, just because I feel like I have a really different perspective than I did before. Even if things don't turn out good at the end, I can still say I enjoyed it, and I learned something from it.

Trial and Error.

That's how I'm gonna find and develop my style.

one day i'll find it.

good day!

Illustration Friday-Leap

Quick sketch of a frog that dreamed big.

He didn't die.. he might have walked on water. (or leaped over water) :)

Hey, it's better to try than not try at all.

SI 50th Annual Exhibition

So I see teenage girls losing their minds cuz of their idol pop star on TV sometimes. Now, I wasn't THAT bad, but it was bad. I got to meet many of the great illustrators that I have bookmarked on my browser, and I was more than excited to talk to them. Hearing their advices, how they made it, etc. was just amazing.
I was pretty much dead tired the whole day, but now that I'm home, I can't even sleep because I'm still so excited about the whole thing.

Here are some pictures:

With Peter de Seve. After a long search, we finally found him. He gave us really good advices, and super nice!

With Tim O'Brien. We secretly waited behind him for about ten minutes to talk to him.

With our Good Ol' Professa Scott Bakal
By the way, this last picture was taken by a famous photographer Laura Levine (and as I handed her my camera, I told her which button to press. NICE)

Hello world

Thanks to my car, today was my first Saturday I didn't work in at least 5 years. I sat down in front of my desk, and thought, "hmm I should work on some school projects". But again, it was beautiful outside, and thought maybe I should draw my new friend, Sopo the Orchid. I got her yesterday for my birthday. She looks different than other flowers for sure, AND she looks different from other orchids as well. So this first entry is to celebrate my first Saturday to relax and experiment new techniques.
